Thessaloniki bus routes
General remarks
COVID-19 safety mask is obligatory on the buses. Nearby each bus stop there is a table sign indicating passing buses. There are also illuminated table signs of estimated arrival times of passing buses (telematics). Also consult the fares page.
Getting from the airport to the city center and vice-versa
In order to get from the city airport (SKG) to the city center, one should board 01X (before 23:00) or 1N (after 23:00) which regularly departs outside the airport. Depending on the location of the hotel, one should exit at the bus stop KAMARA or PLATIA ARISTOTELOUS or KOLOMVOU (please check the embedded map in the links with respect to the hotel address) all located along Egnatia street.
In order to get from the city center to the airport, one should board the same bus, but from the opposite direction bus stops.
The airport bus ticket costs 1.80€ and there are ticket-issuing coin machines on the bus. Estimated time of the route: 35-40 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
Taking a taxi from/to the airport costs about 20-25€, depending on the exact location and the number of luggage items.
Getting from the city center to the KEDEA Research Dissemination Center and vice-versa.
In order to get from the city center to KEDEA building, one can board any of the following buses at various stops along the main Egnatia Street:
2K (exit the bus at UNIVERSITY OF MACEDONIA)
14/14A (exit the bus at UNIVERSITY OF MACEDONIA)
31 (exit the bus at AGIA FOTINI - UNIVERSITY OF MACEDONIA)
01X (exit the bus at AGIA FOTINI - UNIVERSITY OF MACEDONIA)
10 (exit the bus at AGIA FOTINI - UNIVERSITY OF MACEDONIA)
The 2K bus route and exit stop is shown in the following picture. Similar routes hold for bus lines 14/14A.
The 31 bus route and exit stop is shown in the following picture (green is going from center to KEDEA, blue is the opposite). Similar routes hold for bus lines 01X and 10.
The KEDEA building (red star in the picture above and red building in the picture below) is across the University of Macedonia (walking about 150m uphill).
In order to return from the KEDEA building to the city center, one should board the same bus, but from the opposite direction bus stops. The estimated time of the route varies significantly from 20-35 minutes, depending on traffic conditions, please also allow for about 10-15 minutes of waiting time.
The ticket costs 0.90€ (except for 01X and 1N where it is 1.80€) and there are ticket-issuing coin machines on the buses.
At some main stops, one can buy several tickets in advance.
Taking a taxi from anywhere in the city center to the KEDEA building costs about 5€.
